TXT is an acronym standing for "Tomorrow X Together".[3] In Korean, the group name is "투모로우바이투게더 (RR: Tumoroubaitugedeo)",[4] read as "Tomorrow By Together" and transliterated into Hangul. They do not have a separate Korean version of their name.[5] According to their website, the meaning behind "Tomorrow by Together" is five individuals who "come together under one dream in hopes of building a better tomorrow".[6] In their first ever interview with MBC's "Section TV", the group mentioned that they prefer to be called by their full name, not by their initials.[7] Plans for a second boy group from Big Hit Entertainment were announced by founder Bang Si-hyuk as early as 2017[8] and a date for early 2019 set in November 2018.[9] TXT was officially revealed on January 10, 2019.[10][11] Over the next ten days, YouTube videos depicting each member, dubbed "introduction films", were released.
TXT is the first boy band to debut under Big Hit Entertainment in six years after BTS.[13] A debut broadcast for the group was aired on Mnet and its YouTube page, and was announced along with the band's debut extended play, The Dream Chapter: Star, which was released on March 4.[14][15] A debut showcase was held at the Yes24 Live Hall on March 5.[16] Following the release of the EP, the music video of the album's lead single, "Crown" garnered 14.5 million views on YouTube, breaking the record for the most viewed K-Pop debut music video within 24 hours for a boy group and the most liked K-pop debut music video with 2.3 Million likes in 24 hours .[17][18] The album debuted atop the Gaon Album Chart [19] and Billboard World Albums Chart while "Crown" debuted at number one on the Billboard World Digital Songs Chart.[20] The group debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Emerging Artists and at No. 140 on the Billboard 200 chart for the first time, making them the fastest to appear in these charts (the second fastest K-Pop group to appear in the Billboard Emerging Artist) and highest-charting debut album by any male K-pop group. The album also ranked number 3 on Oricon's Weekly Album Chart.[21] Additionally, the album went onto top the Gaon Monthly Album Chart for the month of March.[22] TXT's first music show performance was aired on March 7, 2019 on Mnet's M Countdown.[23][24] They earned their first ever music show win on SBS MTV's The Show with the single "Crown" just after a week of their debut.[25] This was soon followed by wins on M Countdown and Show Champion.[26][27] "Crown" made it on to GQ's Decade-end list of "The game-changers from a decade of K-pop", for the year 2019, with GQ writing, "The bright, effervescent pop of TXT who, despite being BTS’s younger sibling group, are in their own element as they playfully explore teenage growing pains.

Debuts at No. 1 on Emerging Artists, World Albums & World Digital Song Sales Charts

South Korean K-pop quintet Tomorrow X Together debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart (dated March 16), becoming the top emerging act in the U.S. for the first time. The Emerging Artists chart ranks the most popular developing artists of the week, using the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50
Tomorrow X Together’s debut is powered by its debut EP The Dream Chapter: Star, which launches at No. 140 on the Billboard 200 with 7,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending March 7, according to Nielsen Music. Of its opening week sum, 4,000 were in traditional album sales, enabling the set to concurrently bow on the following album sales-based charts: World Albums (No. 1), Heatseekers Albums (No. 2) and Top Album Sales (No. 26).

The EP becomes the first non-BTS album to lead the World Albums chart since EXO’s EXO 5: Don’t Mess Up My Tempo in November. BTS led the chart for 15 consecutive weeks since then.

“Crown” leads the way at No. 1, followed by “Blue Orangeade” at No. 10, “Cat & Dog” at No. 14 and “Our Summer” at No. 17. TXT (as their name is often abbreviated) becomes the fourth K-pop group to lead the Emerging Artists chart, and the first since NCT 127 in December. Prior to NCT 127, NCT and BLACPINK each led the ranking for one week each. TXT also becomes just the fifth act to debut at No. 1 on the Emerging Artists chart, joining PVRIS in 2017, and Anderson East, Sheku Kanneh-Mason and BLACKPINK in 2018.
